Managing Veterinarian & Owner

Cynthia Lindsay, DVM

Dr. Cynthia (Mayo) Lindsay attended DePaul University in Chicago for undergraduate studies, then Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, British West Indies for veterinary school. After completing her fourth clinical year at Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Lindsay moved to the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. She began working at Columbia Veterinary Hospital in 2006 and purchased the hospital in 2012. Realizing the practice had outgrown the facility, Dr. Lindsay designed and built a new small animal and equine hospital on the Columbia River in 2019. Dr. Lindsay is passionate about providing excellent veterinary care to all patients and supporting their owners equally through times of wellness and difficulty. Although no longer practicing, Dr. Lindsay has embraced the role of Managing Veterinarian and thoroughly enjoys the daily challenges and joys that are presented.
Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family and pursuing the many recreational activities the gorge has to offer. She can often be found riding her bike on the riverfront trail in The Dalles.

Kendra Moulton, DVM

Dr. Kendra grew up in Central Oregon. She graduated from University of Oregon with a Bachelor in Science in 2010 and Oregon State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014. After vet school, She moved to the Columbia Gorge where she worked in Washington for 1.5 years at a mixed animal practice and then joined Columbia Veterinary Hospital (CVH) in Fall 2015. Dr. Kendra’s carried on her passion for large animal medicine and started CVH mobile large animal service in 2016. Dr. Kendra enjoys practicing both small and large animal medicine and surgery.

Outside of work, Dr. Kendra enjoys riding her horse’s Tigger and Jasper and taking advantage of many other outdoor activities.


Kayla Shepherd, DVM

Dr. Kayla Shepherd grew up in Minnesota and earned a Bachelors degree in animal science at the University of Minnesota where she also attended veterinary school to earn her Doctorate. Dr. Kayla’s focus is on equine and small animal medicine. She has wanted to be a veterinarian since she was 5 and her passion is potentiating the human-animal bond. Her passions within the field include equine sports medicine, lameness, equine reproduction, small animal surgery, dentistry and preventive care.

In her spare time she enjoys eventing on her horse, hiking with her dogs and fiancé, Dan, doing yoga, and baking. Dr. Kayla has a horse named Rocket, 2 dogs named Radish and Mango and 2 cats named Parmesan and Meowy. Her favorite thing about the Pacific Northwest is the accessibility to so many amazing outdoor places and the mild winters!


Becky Brandenburg, DVM

Dr. Becky Brandenburg is originally from North Carolina. She attended veterinary school at Colorado State University graduating in 2015. Following graduation Becky worked in a mixed animal practice in Goldendale, WA and then spent the last 4 years in Brookings, Oregon at a mixed animal practice. Becky joined Columbia Veterinary Hospital in 2019. She enjoys emergency medicine, soft tissue surgery, and reproduction.

In her free time, Becky enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, riding her horse, and snowboarding.


Lacey Owen, DVM


Nicole Baker, DVM

Dr. Nicole Baker grew up in the South, primarily in Georgia, but also lived in Florida and Tennessee. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology at Berea College in Kentucky and received her veterinary degree at Mississippi State University. Dr. Baker enjoys working with small ruminants, equine, small animals and pocket pets. She has a special interest in emergency medicine, reproduction and surgery.

In her spare time, she enjoys hiking with her Great Dane named Gibbs and cuddling on the couch with her Chihuahua Feist mix named Chuck. In the winter she enjoys going cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Her favorite thing about the Pacific Northwest is the laid back lifestyle and the outdoor activities available.

Relief Doctor ,Veterinarian

Karen Bird, DVM

Dr. Karen Bird attended undergraduate at Shasta Community College for 2 years. She received her bachelor's and master's degree in Animal Science before completing her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1980. She began her career in Pendleton, Oregon. She moved on to Klamath Falls, OR and practiced veterinary medicine for 36 years. She was an associate vet for 6 years. She became a practice owner in 1986. Her practice was a combined companion animal, production animal and veterinary supply store. Karen retired to relocate closer to family, but retirement didn't "take". She found a niche as a relief doctor here in the Columbia River Gorge. Dr. Bird enjoys travel, exploring the high desert, and spending time with family and friends.
